Rihanna crowned Top Billboard Pop Songs Artist of Last 20 Years

Rihanna has today been crowned the Top Billboard Pop Songs Artist of the last 20 Years.

The Bajan superstar was given the accolade from the official US charts site, which tallied the first two decades of the Pop Songs chart, following her 34 separate appearances, 21 of which have hit the Top 10 and nine of which have reached number one.

Pink finished second, just ahead of Britney Spears and Kelly Clarkson, while Mariah Carey finished fifth, all of whom started their careers several years before Rihanna arrived on the scene in 2005.

The 24-year-old, who yesterday denied One Direction the UK number one spot with 'Diamonds,' tweeted her excitement at the news earlier today:

“Billboard crowned me #1 top 40 artist of the decade just 7 years into this!! My fans just majorly shat on ur existence”
