Rihanna to donate to Hurricane Sandy relief and asks fans to do the same

Rihanna is to donate $100,000 to Hurricane Sandy relief - and told fans that they can hear a preview of her new album if they help the cause too.

The fatal storm hit the East coast of America recently, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.

Speaking in a Facebook Live conversation with Bravo's Andy Cohen, Rihanna said that she would personally donate $100,000 to a New York food fund.

She added that fans who donate blankets and sleeping bags, for example, can get access to a listening party today (November 9) for her forthcoming new album 'Unapologetic'. The Bajan star said:

"It's really difficult to see something so tragic going on and not be able to do anything about it. There's nothing you can control, you know? It's mother nature and it gets worse...and you just keep holding your breath. It's really sad what happened here."

Rihanna continued: "But tomorrow [November 9], I will be donating $100,000 to the Food Bank for New York City. We're also doing a listening party at the 40/40 and everybody is asked to donate some blankets, bleach, brooms, stuff like that, sleeping bags, and they get to listen to the album if they donate...to the Daily News Hurricane Relief Fund."
