Rihanna defends '777 Tour'

Rihanna has spoken out about her recent '777 Tour' after it came under fire from the media.

The singer took a number of journalists and fans on a plane as she toured the world to play seven different countries in a week to promote her seventh studio release 'Unapologetic'.

However, some members of the assembled media criticised the trip as a poorly designed promotional sham, lamenting the lack of access they had to the global star.

One Australian radio reporter even took to streaking across the plane in protest of not getting interviews with the Bajan beauty that they were reportedly promised.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1, however, Rihanna said that it was difficult to interact with everyone on the tour and conceded that she had to protect her voice and rest whilst on the trip. She said:

"It was different having to do your job but also have 200 guests come along with you. They all want you to host a party every time you get on the plane after a show but you really only have that time to sleep until you get to the next country. Sometimes it was a two-hour ride to the next country and that was all the sleep you would get."

The 'Diamonds' singer continued: "I knew I had seven countries and seven shows and I had to save my voice. I didn't go crazy. I didn't party too hard. I did have fun though. I tried to get everybody involved but sometimes you just wish you could give more."
