Rihanna "cries like a pussy" as she tops US album chart for the first time

Rihanna was left in tears after achieving her first No.1 album in the US.

The singer recently released the record 'Unapologetic' and it has sold just under 240,000 copies in its first week to top the US charts.

Despite notching up four No.1 records in the UK, her new effort marks the first time that she has topped the US chart.

Tweeting about the good news, an emotional Rihanna said:

"Wait!!!!! What the F*CK?!!!! #UNAPOLOGETIC just debuted at #1 in AMERICA!!!!! My first number 1 album there!!! Thank you Navy, u deserve it."

She added: "I'm legit crying like a pussy right now!! #UNAPOLOGETIC."

Her first week sales figures, however, appear insignificant in comparison to Taylor Swift's recent US No.1 album 'Red', which managed to sell 1.2 million copies in its initial week.

The closest that Rihanna has previously come to topping the US albums chart was with 2007's 'Good Girl Gone Bad', which landed at No.2.
