Court papers have revealed that Rihanna is suing Topshop for using an image of the singer on t-shirts without her approval.

However, a section of the complaint also says that the image wouldn't have been given the green light anyway because it is "unflattering".

It reads: "The base image of the first claimant [Rihanna] is of such an unflattering nature that it would not be approved."

The Mirror reports the star and her legal team were also critical of the quality of the garments, which they said were "poor".

Reports have suggested Rihanna and her team are looking for millions of dollars in compensation, but no figures are said to have been mentioned in the papers.

Topshop claim they are entitled to use the image of Rihanna because the photo was taken in public.
