Rita Ora: 'I learned the hard way about fake friendships'

Songstress Rita Ora has revealed that while she loves her life, she didn't expect fame to bring with it some very 'fake' people who would pretend to be friends with her for their own benefit.

During an interview with Britain's Hello! magazine, the 'I Will Never Let You Down' beauty confessed that people warned her about certain friendships she formed earlier in her career, but she just thought people were being nice so opened up to them and was shocked when they turned out to be fake:

"I guess friendships in the spotlight are different to friendships in private. I've got friends I've known since I was born and nobody knows what they look like. Some friends are famous, some aren't. I guess you meet new people on the way."

"There are a lot of fake friendships. When I first started out, people warned me about someone, but I was very much, 'No, she's being nice.' I guess you learn the hard way. You have to know the difference between what's real and what's fake."

Last week, Ora opened up about her admiration for strong women and told the Daily Star newspaper that confidence and self-assurance are attractive qualities to her:

"I’m a female who loves empowering women and obviously Beyoncé is one of those women. I was her biggest fan, I loved everything she stood for. Same goes for Madonna for having incredible confidence – I couldn’t speak when I met her. I love women who are proud of who they are.”
