Rita Ora: 'People are too afraid to call themselves feminists'

Songstress Rita Ora has revealed that she doesn't want people to be intimidated by the word 'feminist' because it's empowering and supportive.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the beauty explained that she would definitely consider herself to be a feminist and wants others to see the movement for what it truly is, rather than being 'scared' by it:

"The reason why I say yes to identifying myself as a feminist is because the word 'feminist', people get scared of. That's not exactly the scariest part of being a feminist. The word sounds scary but all it is is being supportive of someone of the same sex."

Ora, meanwhile, told Billboard this week that she is absolutely in love with the freedom that comes with performing live: "My favourite thing ever in what I do is performing live. It's about not having any rules. I've been very adamant on making sure that there is a sense of freedom on my stage, whether it's outfits or being comfortable in your sexuality, whatever."

She added: "I'm very proud of what I am and who we are as a band and as a team. We roll as a unit and this is the first time I've performed in Los Angeles, or even America, in two years. It's almost like starting again."
