Rita Ora says she wished to "die" after breaking up with Calvin Harris.

The singer split from the Scottish DJ last year after spending a number of months together.

Ora has previously said that she delayed the release of her next album because she wanted rewrite its content after the break-up.

Speaking to Wonderland, the singer said that she was in a dark place following the split.

Ora said: "At the time…I just wanted to crawl in my bed and die. But I got out of it the other side, I'm surviving.

"I kind of saw the light at the end of the tunnel and I just wanted to change the vibe of the whole album, it was initially a really lovey-dovey album because that's where I was, but then I obviously didn't feel like that.

"I was like, "Okay, I need to get back in the studio and write some 'thank God my friends are great' kind of music."

Ora is due to release her second album early next year.

Her debut effort 'ORA' was unleashed in 2012 and fans have been left waiting for a follow-up.
