Rita Ora 'sues label Roc Nation' for losing interest in her

Rita Ora is reportedly launching legal action against her label Roc Nation for seemingly losing interest in her.

The singer has been with Jay Z's record company since 2008 but it appears she wants to now cut her ties with the business.

At the time, she signed a five-album deal, but legal papers filed in California by Ora's team claim Roc Nation have breached the state's 'seven-year rule'.

The rule says that personal services cannot be enforced beyond a seven-year period.

Papers seen by the Hollywood Reporter claim Roc Nation lost interest in Ora after branching into sports management.

It also suggested the singer was prevented from releasing material since her 2012 debut record 'Ora'.

Her lawyers write: "When Rita signed, Roc Nation and its senior executives were very involved with her as an artist.

"As Roc Nation's interests diversified, there were fewer resources available and the company suffered a revolving door of executives.

"Rita's remaining supporters at the label left or moved on to other activities, to the point where she no longer had a relationship with anyone at the company.

"Between Sony's limited economic return from its orphaned relationship with Roc Nation and Sony's indirect relationship with Rita, Rita is caught in a political quagmire of dysfunction."

Ora's long-awaited second album does not yet have a release date, despite being delayed for months.
