Sam Smith returns to the No.1 album spot in the UK with 'In The Lonely Hour'

Sam Smith has returned to No.1 on the Official Albums Chart, 15 weeks after its debut.

The album, which first topped the charts back in June, climbs four places and overtakes midweek leaders Royal Blood to take pole position on the tally. The record includes No.1 singles 'Money On My Mind' and 'Safe With Me' as well as his latest track 'I’m Not The Only One', which reaches a new peak at No.5 this week.

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran’s 'X' slips from 2 to 3, and Maroon 5 debut at No.4 with their fifth studio album 'V'. The record also marks their fifth Top 10 album and includes the single 'Maps', which entered the Official Singles Chart at No.2 last week.

Rounding off this week’s Top 5 is George Ezra, who climbs three places to No.5 this week with 'Wanted On Voyage'.

US sibling duo The Pierces enter at No.7 with their fifth studio album 'Creation', and Cambridge rockers Lonely The Brave land at No.14 with their debut album 'The Day’s War'.

Ahead of his two new albums released later this month, Prince’s 'Purple Rain' soundtrack album re-enters today at No.19. The LP peaked at No.2 on the chart when it was first released 30 years ago in 1984.

Finally, Leeds band Pulled Apart By Horses celebrate their first Top 40 album with their third studio record 'Blood', which lands at No.38.
