Sam Smith clears up meet and greet cancellation: 'There wasn't enough security and I'm ill'

Singer-songwriter Sam Smith recently cancelled on a scheduled meet and greet in Nashville and he has now revealed the reason behind the disappointing change of plans.

Speaking to Dallas’s KVIL radio station today (October 10), the 'Like I Can' star explained that there was no security at the planned event so he had to opt out of it for safety reasons:

"What happened was, first of all I’m completely stupid, but also what I want to clear up is I meet my fans every night. The reason why I couldn’t meet the fans was because there wasn’t enough security outside. So I couldn’t go out and meet them. Also, I am ill.”

He went onto add that he was then 'dragged' to a bar and the photos posted of him singing karaoke seemed like he was just having a carefree and good time, when that wasn't the case at all: “I got dragged into a karaoke by my bandmates, and the next thing I knew I was singing ‘Flawless’ on the stage. And then I suffered for having fun the next morning.”
