Sam Smith has never known real romance: 'Hopefully I'll meet someone new'

'Like I Can' singer Sam Smith has revealed that while he writes tracks about love, he has never fully experienced it and really hopes to change that in the near future.

Speaking to Britain's Daily Star newspaper, the 'Stay With Me' hitmaker admitted that he hasn't known true romance because he has never had a proper relationship: "I've never been in a relationship. That's why this album is called 'In The Lonely Hour'. But hopefully I'll meet someone new."

The superstar picked up a total of 4 prizes at last night's MOBO Awards in London and reigned supreme in the R&B/Soul, Best Male, Best Song and Best Album. Speaking to the BBC about his wins, Smith explained: "It's surreal. I came last year and really wanted to win best newcomer but didn't and to come back and win four awards is ridiculous. I am overwhelmed."

Earlier today (October 23), Smith praised 'I Knew You Were Trouble' beauty Taylor Swift's songwriting skills and shared a tweet that read: "You are the best thing that's ever been mine. @TaylorSwift13 you're a genius."
