Sam Smith: "I'd like to be a legend in my field"

‘Stay With Me’ singer Sam Smith has revealed his hopes for continued success in his music career.

2014 has already been a big year for the 22-year-old vocalist after having achieved two number one singles, a chart-topping debut album and winning a number of awards at this year’s MOBOs.

However, it was a meeting with American Vogue editor Anna Wintour that made Sam consider his desire for longevity and having a lasting impact.

Whilst reflecting on meeting Wintour after working with Teen Vogue, Smith stated:

“It is beautiful to meet someone who is truly a legend in her field. I'd like to be a legend in my field, one day.”

Despite Wintour’s reputation, the ‘In The Lonely Hour’ star was pleasantly surprised by the Vogue star, saying: “It was like walking into 'The Devil Wears Prada'. The only thing that wasn't like it was Anna. She was the most kind and friendly person.”

As well as wanting to be a “legend”, Sam Smith has shared one further dream he hopes to achieve - meeting the Queen:

“I'd love to meet the Queen. I don't want an award - I literally want to shake her hand.”

Today (November 15) Sam Smith will be recording his part of Band Aid 30’s ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ charity single.
