Sam Smith has suggested that he has been less than impressed by the attitude of some top pop stars.

The singer is a huge name in his own right after releasing his debut album 'In The Lonely Hour' last year.

However, he told GQ in a new interview that he has been stung by some of his peers who see him as a rival.

Smith said: "I will never act like [how] some of the current pop stars have acted towards me.

"We can be friends, you know? We can. It's not a competition. There's space for all of us."

Speaking meanwhile about his ambitions, the 'Stay With Me' star added:

"You know, I want to be the biggest star in the world, but I also want to maintain the soulfulness. I don't want to lose my mind or my humour. I want to be a pop star, but I also don't want to be a pop star."
