Sam Smith on love: 'I want something that's unobtainable'

British singer-songwriter Sam Smith has opened up about his relationship goals and confessed that he's very excited by the idea of wanting something he is never going to get.

The sensation recently split from boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel and has now told America's GQ magazine that he always seems to chase after something that's 'unobtainable':

"In relationships, I feel so much more comfortable wanting what I'm never going to get. Like recently, I met two guys. One of them on paper is perfect and ticks all the boxes. The other is dangerous and--well, he ticks boxes actually, too. I've chosen him. I want that excitement. I want something that's unobtainable."

Smith, meanwhile, is up for the Song of the Year ('Stay With Me') prize at this year's GRAMMY Awards, which is due to take place on February 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
