Sam Smith has postponed a tour date due to illness.

The singer was scheduled to perform at Milan's Alcatraz Club on Monday (March 9).

However, he revealed on Twitter that the show had been pulled due to laryngitis.

Smith added that he "promises" to make it up to fans when he returns to the city later this year.

The Brit said: "I have Laryngitis, I'm so upset. Love is all you need.

"I'm sorry to any fans in Milan tonight and to all who have travelled from abroad. I have laryngitis. I promise I will make it up to you x.

"Milan I'm back in June and I will sing the hardest I've ever sung. That's a promise."

Smith's next tour date is due to take place in Zurich tonight (March 10).
