Sam Smith: 'My family keep me grounded and shout at me when they need to'

British singer-songwriter Sam Smith has revealed that his parents and sisters help to keep him grounded by telling him off when he needs to check his behaviour.

Speaking to ODE on the BRITs red carpet recently, the hitmaker explained that his loved ones don't hold back on 'shouting' at him when he deserves it, which keeps him 'clear-headed':

"I'm just making sure I stick with my team and have good people around me - make sure my mum and dad are here. [My sisters] keep me so grounded and so clear-headed... they tell me off and shout at me when they need to. My dad shouted at me the other day because I drank too much and went out after Madison Square Garden... I was eating, like, 50 chicken nuggets and he was like, 'Sam!'."

The 'Lay Me Down' superstar, meanwhile, is due to kick off his north American tour on July 17 in Louisville, Kentucky and the final concert is scheduled for August 17 at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas.
