Sam Smith's 'In The Lonely Hour' named UK's best selling album of 2015

Sam Smith has topped a list of the UK's top selling records of the year so far.

The singer released his debut effort 'In The Lonely Hour' in 2014, but it is still proving popular.

The Official Charts Company have confirmed that the studio effort is 2015's best selling album to date.

It has shifted over 370,000 units so far this year.

Ed Sheeran's 'x' - also released in 2014 - has sold 350,000 copies to come in second place, whilst George Ezra's 'Wanted On Voyage' has racked up 270,000 sales.

Taylor Swift's '1989' is fourth on the list with a total of 198,000 copies and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ 'Chasing Yesterday' is fifth.

Other high selling records include Hozier and Royal Blood's self-titled efforts, whilst Ella Henderson's 'Chapter One' is tenth on the list.
