Sam Smith: 'My throat is looking bloody fantastic'

Sam Smith says his recovery from vocal injury is going well.

The singer was sidelined earlier this year after going under the knife to sort out a vocal cord haemorrhage.

He was forced into cancelling a number of shows and was left silent for a number of days after his surgery.

However, the Brit is now back in action and he returned this week to the doctor who treated him in Boston.

Smith posted on Instagram: "So just want to keep everyone in the loop; I have been in Boston the last few days to have a check up on my throat, before I embark on my American tour. MY THROAT IS LOOKING BLOODY FANTASTIC.

"So it's amazing news. So happy. It's going to be a really tough month of shows but I can't wait to see you all, and pray it's going to be a smooth ride. LET'S GO."

The singer is due to perform in Kentucky tonight (July 17).
