Sam Smith nominated twice for BMI London Awards

Sam Smith is set to go to battle with Ed Sheeran at this year's BMI London Awards.

The two singers are both nominated twice for the Song of the Year prize.

Smith has received nods for his track 'Stay With Me', as well as the Disclosure collaboration 'Latch'.

Sheeran is nominated for his 2014 hits 'Sing' and 'Don't'.

The prize recognises the most-played tracks - written by European artists and songwriters - of the last year on TV and radio in the US.

The awards will take place on Monday (October 19), with songwriter Graham Gouldman - who has worked with the likes of the Yardbirds - set to receive the Icon award.
