Sam Smith achieves two new Guinness World Records

Sam Smith now has two Guinness World Records titles to his name.

The singer set a record recently for the longest consecutive stay in the UK albums chart top ten.

His 2014 debut effort 'In The Lonely Hour' resided in the top ten for 69 weeks.

The record slipped out recently - but it is currently sitting at No.7.

Smith has also been recognised for taking a James Bond theme single to No.1 in the UK for the first time.

The singer released 'Writing's On The Wall' in September as the title tune for upcoming film Spectre.

Smith commented: "This is so amazing! It’s such an honour to be recognised by Guinness World Records.

"It’s been an unbelievable eighteen months - the album exceeded even my wildest dreams thanks to the incredible support of my fans, and to record the first ever Bond theme to reach No.1 in the UK is a real privilege."

Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday added: “Sam Smith has had an incredible impact on the music industry since his debut album first hit the charts last year and the longevity of its stay is truly astonishing.

"His second Guinness World Records title is equally as impressive as many talented artists for over half a century have tried and failed to write a James Bond theme and get it to the top of charts so what Sam has achieved will always be remembered in the record books."
