Sam Smith opens up about his songwriting inspiration

British singer-songwriter Sam Smith has opened up about where he finds inspiration for songs.

During an interview with Annie Mac, the star was asked if he ever self-sabotages relationships in order to create great content for songwriting and admitted that he is always thinking about how he can turn his real-life situations into lyrics:

"I'd be lying if I said no. Sometimes I'll be lying in bed with someone and think, 'This would be a sick song'."

Back in September, Smith joked that he plans to kiss loads of boys over the next year so that he has enough material for the new record: "One song could be (a love song) yes. I need to get with someone first for it to be about a relationship, so I'm just going to try and kiss loads of boys over the next year."
