'Stay With Me' hitmaker Sam Smith has revealed that when he met Prince William he did such a deep bow that other people around them couldn't help but giggle. 

During a new interview with Jimmy Fallon, the sensation confessed that he's embarrassed by the incident because he genuinely didn't know that bowing to royalty had to be such a subtle movement:

"My issue is that I watch too much Downton Abbey... You get instructions, right, they say you've got to bow, with one arm behind your back. If someone tells you to bow - I properly went for it. I bowed." He went onto laugh at himself, admitting that he can now see the funny side: "You have to just (dip your head) apparently - I am at a full right angle."

Smith also spoke about his desire for some well-deserved time off, adding that he has been working so hard that it would just be nice to get back to normality for a little while: "All my music is so insanely personal that I need to step away from everything... see my family, get into some arguments with my mum..."
