Roots in the Round (Owens, Vincent, Worry Dolls, Black Feathers) - UK Tour 29 Nov–10 Dec

Award winning troubadours on tour, in Nashville style songwriters circle

Roots in the Round is an exhilarating Nashville style songwriters circle, with some of UK’s most exciting singer songwriters – award winning singer/songwriter Robert Vincent and acclaimed Scottish troubadour Dean Owens, with special guests up and coming indie-folk female duo Worry Dolls and The Black Feathers (Liverpool date only). Upliftingly melancholic songs, laced with rootsy Americana, country, blues and harmonies that will raise the hairs on your arms and warm the coals in your gut.

Conceived by Owens, based on his experience of songwriters circle events in Nashville, Roots in the Round will tour around the UK, including London, Portsmouth, Lewes, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle upon Tyne and Glasgow. He and Vincent are At The Helm Records labelmates, and he and Worry Dolls share a producer in the formidable Nashville based Neilson Hubbard (whose recent clients include John Prine and Jason Isbell).  Each act will take it in turn to sing, with the strong possibility of surprise collaborations, making Roots in the Round a unique showcase for some very special talents.

Robert Vincent, whose current album (I'll Make The Most Of My Sins) has been nominated for Americana Music Awards Album of the Year, hails from Liverpool, continuing that city’s notable reputation for producing great songwriters and performers. Robert was voted one the top 20 acts at the 2016 Americanafest in Nashville, courtesy of Rolling Stone. He was the recipient of the inaugural Emerging Artist UK Americana Music Award - personally selected by BBC’s legendary Bob Harris.

Dean Owens is one Scotland’s finest singer/songwriters, with fans including Bob Harris, Irvine Welsh and Russell Brand. Armed with a searingly soulful voice, skilfully crafted stories and earworm inducing melodies, he is a compelling and engaging live performer, with an emotional hurricane of stories and songs. In September 2017 he became the first Scottish musician to officially showcase at the prestigious Americanafest in Nashville.  Southern Wind - his 7th solo album – is scheduled for release in Feb 2018. It will be launched at a headline gig at Celtic Connections on 2 Feb.

Worry Dolls are an up and coming London based indie-folk female duo, described as “brilliantly quirky” by the Huffington Post, and tipped as “ones to watch” by several reviewers. Their debut album Go Get Gone (2017), recorded in Nashville, is notable for its sublime harmonies and great songs. Their song Endless Road  has been nominated for UK Song of the Year at the Americana Music Awards

The Black Feathers - Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler - are a hotly tipped duo from Gloucestershire, with the ability to write songs that are both modern and ancient - the product of an arcane art of weaving in traditional influences so thoroughly that they become the warp and weft of fresh creations.

Dean Owens: “I’m really excited about this tour. I've played a few of this type of show in Nashville so it will be great to see how it works over here with my fellow UK based troubadours”
