Selena Gomez has admitted that she feels the pressure of having to look a certain way.

The 21-year-old singer made the admission whilst speaking at the We Day California event in Oakland on Wednesday (March 26).

The US star suggested that some people above her have often encouraged her to be something that she is not.

Gomez said: "I'm surrounded by people who are supposed to guide me and some of them have and others haven't. They pressure me: 'You gotta be sexy,  you gotta be cute, you gotta be nice, you gotta be all these things'."

The 'Come & Get It' star revealed in February that she spent some time at the Dawn at the Meadows rehab centre in Arizona in January.

The visit was not thought to have been substance related, with the centre focusing on younger people "struggling with emotional trauma, addiction or dual diagnosis concerns".

At the time, Gomez said in a statement that she needed to "spend time on herself".
