Ahead of the annual ceremony happening later today (August 10), Selena Gomez has been announced as the recipient of this year’s Ultimate Choice title at the Teen Choice Awards.

Previous recipients of the Ultimate Choice Award surfboard prize include Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift and actor Ashton Kutcher.

The Teen Choice Awards will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and hosted by Tyler Posey and Sarah Hyland.

As well as picking up her special trophy, Selena Gomez is nominated in another three categories: Choice Instagrammer, Female Hottie and Smile.

Music stars confirmed to be attending the event include the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Hilary Duff. Performances will come from Jason Derulo, Rixton, Magic!, Becky G and a duet between Demi Lovato and Cher Lloyd. 

The 2014 Teen Choice Awards will air live tonight (August 10) at 8pm on FOX.
