Selena Gomez: 'Your mistakes teach you more about life'

'The Heart Wants What It Wants' superstar Selena Gomez has opened up about the ups and downs she has experienced over the past few years and confessed that she is a stronger person now because of them.

Speaking to America's OK! magazine, the beauty explained that it's important to make mistakes as you end up learning things from them you wouldn't otherwise have to confront:

"I'm still young and going through the confusion women my age are feeling. Sometimes your mistakes are going to teach you more about life. I have to tell myself I can't be perfect and that I should enjoy all the good things that are happening."

The sensation went onto add that taking time off helped her to get back on track: "I've learned a lot about myself (over the past year) and how I want to move forward with my life. I also took some time off to focus on the things that make me happy and the friends I need to help me stay grounded."
