Selena Gomez on her new album: 'Now, I can really step up'

Songstress Selena Gomez has opened up about her forthcoming new album 'Revival' and revealed that she loves the songs that make up its tracklisting because they're so true to who she really is.

During a new interview with the Toby Knapp Show at Hot 99.5, the beauty confessed that she feels as though the music on her new record is incredibly "authentic"

"The album is so different. There’s a song about kindness on the album, it’s so true and authentic to who I am."

She continued: "I was trying to find another ‘Who Says’. Now, I can step up. I’ve worked with people I haven’t worked with before.”

Gomez, meanwhile, recently told MTV News that she tells stories with the tracks on her new record, which is something that was important to her when making it: "The album in general is my perspective on things — it’s not about one thing."

"I’m going to be 23, I’ve seen how the world works in a weird way. That moment in your life when you step back and you’re like, ’What’s going on? Am I happy? Are these people good for me? Why are these people doing that to other people?’ Just discovering what life is, spirituality, so there’s a little bit of all of that on the album."
