Selena Gomez on pressure to look good: 'I won't be starving myself'

Singer Selena Gomez has revealed that it's difficult being a woman in the public eye because everything about her appearance is scrutinised and that can be a very tough thing to handle.

During an interview with German magazine Bravo, the 'Good For You' beauty confessed that she doesn't like the way women are treated in the press because she finds that she is constantly self-conscious about her figure and her appearance:

"The only thing I have to do is be happy with myself - and I am! I want to be able to eat a burger without someone having their say about my figure."

The songstress went onto add that she would never starve herself in order to fit some unattainable standard created by the entertainment industry and wants other girls to follow suit and feel confident in their own skin:

I'm not particularly dainty by nature and don't plan to starve myself to change that. Girls should accept themselves the way they are. And others need to be more accepting of us too - we deserve more respect!"
