Selena Gomez says acting helped her: 'It gave me a new perspective'

'Good For You' sensation Selena Gomez has revealed that her past in acting has been a real credit to her development of life skills.

The beauty played the role of Alex Russo on Disney's 'Wizards of Waverly Place' for years and went on to star in Disney's Original Movie 'Princess Protection Program', the much edgier 'Spring Breakers', 'Rudderless' and 'The Getaway' to name but a few.

Her varied roles have taught her many valuable lessons and she opened up about them in a new interview.

Speaking to German magazine Jolie, the star admitted that acting definitely helped her in more ways than she could have imagined at the time: "Acting gave me a new perspective and developed my personality."

Gomez, meanwhile, will release her highly anticipated new studio album 'Revival' on October 9 and she recently explained that she had full creative control over the record: "It took a year to put the album together and it was the first time someone in my life really kinda just said 'alright it’s up to you, what do you want to do?' and I had to figure out what I wanted to say."
