The singer recently achieved the feat after a fan campaign to push her over the mark.

Despite this, the US star hasn't updated her account since August.

Gomez recently called a number of live dates as a result of anxiety, depression and panic attacks.

She said her condition was a result of having lupus.

Taylor Swift meanwhile is the second most followed person on Instagram, with 91.4 million people connected with her account.
