Selena Gomez: 'I want to feel comfortable in my own skin'

Songstress Selena Gomez has opened up about her brand new album, 'Stars Dance', and revealed that she's finally able to commit herself fully to music.

Speaking to CNN about the project, the 'Like A Love Song' beauty confessed that now she isn't working on her Disney Channel series or other movies she has been able to focus all of her attention on making the record:

"I was able to have full creative control over it. Before, I would have maybe a month or two to record an album, and I'd have to do my series at the same time and tour on the weekends. I wasn't in the right mindset to fully give my all."

When asked what inspired her this time around, Gomez added that she was "influenced by Taylor Swift and Britney Spears' more mature sounds."

In addition to discussing her new album, which debuted today (July 24) at No.5 on the UK Top 40, Gomez said that she's currently going through a "transitional" period and is re-discovering herself as an adult now that she has turned 21: "The past year and a half has been really transitional for me, just personally, as well as transitioning into becoming a woman. I still feel like I'm 15 sometimes and then other times, I'm wanting to feel comfortable in my body and my skin."
