Selena Gomez responds to Lorde’s anti-feminist accusations

Selena Gomez has responded to the negative comments directed at her by 16-year-old New Zealand singer Lorde, who called her music anti-feminist.

Speaking recently to Rolling Stone magazine, Lorde shot out against Gomez’s song ‘Come and Get It’, saying: "I'm a feminist and the theme of [Gomez's] song is, ‘When you're ready come and get it from me’... [and] I'm sick of women being portrayed in this way.”

In response, Gomez said she admired Lorde’s talent, but questioned her motives.

"I appreciate everybody's opinion, especially because I've covered [Lorde's] music lots of times," said Gomez to Hot 99.5's The Kane Show.

"I think she is super-talented and I think it's awesome."

"But… in my opinion it's not feminism if you're tearing down another artist," she added.

"You know, she's young, she's got so much talent… so I don't take it to heart."
