Sia has admitted that she was close to killing herself a few years ago.

The singer told the New York Times that dependency on drink and drugs drove her to writing a suicide note in 2010.

Thankfully, a phone call from a friend helped the 38-year-old songwriter through the pain before she eventually went to rehab.

Her draft suicide note, which was addressed to her dog walker and hotel manager, read: "I've killed myself and I don't want you to have to suffer seeing my dead body."

Sia added: "I was in the back lounge, high on Xanax and alcohol, watching every episode of E.R. from the beginning. When you're in a different place every day [on the road], there's this kind of madness that sets in. It's easy to get away with getting high, because everybody's drinking on the road. None of my friends thought I was an alcoholic, and neither did I."
