Sia: 'Katy Perry was meant to have 'Pretty Hurts', but it went to Beyoncé'

Songwriter Sia Furler has confessed that 'Pretty Hurts' was initially supposed to be Katy Perry's, but global vocal powerhouse Beyoncé swooped in and snatched it up because it was such a great song.

During a new interview with the New York Times, Sia explained that as soon as the 'Halo' beauty heard the song she just had to have it: "When Beyoncé heard it, she slid into home base and just closed the deal."

She confessed that Perry then sent her a text, which read "I'm pretty hurt you never sent me this song" and Sia had to explain that she had emailed it to Perry first, but Beyoncé had already pounced on it by that point. Perry replied by writing: "It was meant to be with Beyoncé, of course."

The star also told the newspaper that she was really upset when she learned that her vocals were featuring on hit single 'Titanium', because she didn't really like the dance music setting of the track: "I was really upset about it, because electronic dance music is not my kind of music. Of course, it turned out to help my career as a songwriter."
