Simon Cowell has admitted that there are too many members of One Direction to ask one of them to be his son's godfather.

The music mogul is due to become a father for the first time soon as his partner Lauren Silverman prepares to give birth to a boy.

The pregnancy is hot news and Cowell was asked by Digital Spy if he would consider having a member of One Direction as the kid's godfather.

He replied: "If you ask one, you've got to ask five, so I don't think I can do that."

Speaking more generally about his future child, Cowell added: Of course [I'm ready for fatherhood]. I'm good with kids and he'll be well looked after."

The X Factor supremo also said that he might have to run out of Britain's Got Talent auditions if Silverman goes into labour.
