Superstar Simon Cowell is due to welcome his first baby with girlfriend Lauren Silverman soon and admitted that he hopes his son will adopt his British accent. 

Speaking to BANG! Showbiz reporters at London's Hammersmith Apollo on Tuesday (February 11), the music mogul explained that if his son ends up with an American accent because of his mother's nationality it'll be 'odd':

"That's true, I would like him to have a British accent. I'm British."

"I haven't thought about it a lot, but it would be quite odd, me being a Brit having a baby with an American accent."

When asked if he's ready and looking forward to becoming a first-time father, Cowell added: "Of course. I'm good with kids and he'll be well looked after."

Cowell was also recently asked if he'd consider asking any of the One Direction heartthrobs to be godparents, but he confessed that you can't really just ask one member and because he doesn't want 5 godfathers he will just avoid asking at all: "If you ask one, you've got to ask five, so I don't think I can do that."
