Simon Cowell praises "fantastic" X Factor musical

The new X Factor musical I Can't Sing has seemingly passed Simon Cowell's test.

The West End show, which is the brainchild of Harry Hill, had its opening night on Wednesday (March 26) at the London Palladium.

The musical spoofs iconic X Factor characters such as Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh.

The music mogul attended the opening night of the show alongside partner Lauren Silverman and he took to Twitter afterwards to say:

"Tonight was a special night. The I can't sing opening night was fantastic. Credit to the cast who were on top form. Check out the reviews."

It seems the musical meanwhile spurred Cowell into getting nostalgic about American Idol, with the Syco man adding:

"One day Paula Randy Me and Ryan will reunite. I know it will happen. It was a special time."

The I Can't Sing opening night came only weeks after its preview showings were fraught with delays and cancellations.

The musical is now on general sale following its maiden night.
