Ellie Goulding is the latest name to be dismissed by Simon Cowell in the X Factor judging stakes.

The music mogul and Cheryl Cole have been confirmed to return to the TV talent show this year, but Nicole Scherzinger's seat is still to be filled.

This has led to a series of rumours, with gossip about Rihanna and Rita Ora recently shot down by Cowell.

He has now turned away speculation that Ellie Goulding could be lined up for the role, saying on Thursday (April 10) in response to her name:

"No...got any ideas?"

Cowell recently confirmed that he would also like to bring back X Factor stalwart Louis Walsh to the panel.
