Simon Cowell has opened up on his friendship with Cheryl.

The two X Factor judges have previously had something of a love/hate relationship on the TV series.

However, their bond turned sour after Cowell dumped Cheryl from the US X Factor in 2010 after just a few auditions.

The duo are back together again on the 2014 series of the UK X Factor and speaking at the launch of the series on Wednesday (August 27) in London, Cowell said:

"There's very little we dislike about each other. We just disagree on certain things. We actually get on very well. Ask Cheryl."

The singer interjected: "He's been around a long, long, long, long time."

The X Factor - which will also feature Mel B and stalwart Louis Walsh - will return to British TV screens on Saturday (August 30).

Last year's series was won by Sam Bailey.
