Simon Cowell teases dolphin and whale captivity project

Simon Cowell has revealed that he is working on a project which will highlight the issue of dolphins and whales in captivity.

The media mogul was forced to apologise recently after it was revealed that a future X Factor episode was going to show contestants interacting with dolphins.

He has now taken to Twitter to reveal that he is overseeing a project on captive sea animals.

Cowell said on Sunday (October 5): "I hope to announce a project in the near future which will bring the issues of dolphins and whales in captivity to a mass audience.

"It's something we have been working on for a while."

One Direction star Harry Styles meanwhile also spoke out on Twitter in support of the Dolphin Project, which is an "international organisation dedicated to restoring freedom for all captive dolphins and whales".

He said: "Just had lunch with @LincolnOBarry @RichardOBarry and @CalAurand Check out @Dolphin_Project and see if you support them like I do."
