Simon Cowell on Zayn Malik: 'He's got to get his head together'

Music mogul Simon Cowell has given his opinion on Zayn Malik's decision to quit One Direction and confessed that he believes a bright future lays ahead of the star.

Speaking to reporters at today's Britain's Got Talent press launch in London, Cowell explained that it's important for Malik to spend some time figuring out what he wants because he is very talented:

"He's a fantastic singer. He's got to get his head together a little bit and needs time on his own."

He went onto add that he has faith in One Direction and hopes they continue on their path as it could potentially be a very long and successful one: "I've always said to all of them, 'The future is bright', we've always said One Direction will stay together for a long time and my hunch is that they still will."

"I wasn't expecting it to happen so quickly. You just have to deal with it. As long as the boys want it and I think they do, they will continue to be successful. They've not got over it but they've got used to it."

One Direction, meanwhile, have just unveiled the first tour poster as a fourpiece (pictured above left) ahead of the next leg of their On The Road Again tour.
