Simon Cowell set to receive prestigious industry award

Music mogul Simon Cowell has been chosen to receive the coveted 2015 Music Industry Trusts Award this November.

Cowell will be given the prestigious accolade in recognition of his outstanding contribution to music and entertainment as well as his charity work. David Munns, chairman of Britain's MITS Award committee, praised Cowell's extensive work in a statement:

"Simon Cowell is a well deserving honouree. The creativity and excitement of 'The X Factor' and 'Britain's Got Talent', for example, have left an indelible impression on our contemporary culture while his record label Syco has proven itself a world leader in the development and success of inspiring, talented artists."

Cowell, meanwhile, recently told U.S. TV show Extra that he doesn't think One Direction will ever get over losing Zayn Malik from their line-up: "Well, I don’t think they’ll ever be over it completely because they started off as a five piece, so they’re always going to miss him. But it happens. You’ve got to dig deep and you rely on each other. In a weird way they kind of got stronger through it."
