Skye Stevens discusses his career, collaborations and Justin Bieber

Skye Stevens is the latest US singer hoping to make it big. The 20-year-old has already made an impact on the Billboard dance chart and his recent 'Rewind' video saw Stevens team up with Pretty Little Liars' Sasha Pieterse. Pressparty caught up with the singer to find out more...

For those who haven't heard you yet, how would you describe your music?

My music blends the electronic upbeat pop/dance world with the rhythmic punch of urban music.

They say there's a time and a place for everything - so when and where do you think your music is best consumed?

I have two singles out that oppose each other pretty well. 'Takes All Night' is a big club banger that packs a big punch and sends you dancing or gets your energy pumping before a workout. 'Rewind' has a lot more sentiment to it and allows the listener to reflect on more personal things in their life.

You recently teamed up with Pretty Little Liars' Sasha Pieterse on your 'Rewind' video - how did that come about?

Sasha fit perfectly for the tone of the video. She has such a presence that I knew her energy would work well in the video. I worked really hard with my manager to get her in the video. She was awesome to work with too.

What other artists would you like to work with in the future?

I'm a big fan of Chris Brown and also DJs like David Guetta, Zedd and Calvin Harris. But I really want to work with Max Martin and Dr. Luke. I've been a fan of their work for years and would probably have a small heart attack if I got to work with them. As for a female collaboration, I think Ciara makes such interesting and entertaining music videos, I'd love to get creative with her. I also admire Alexandra Stan, a Romanian dance artist. She has such a unique voice and style. I'd love to collaborate with her someday.

You've previously recorded a mash-up of One Direction's 'Story of My Life' and Katy Perry's 'Unconditionally'. Why did you pick those two songs?

I'm a fan of both artists and have a lot of respect for their work. Those songs blended incredibly well together and that music also really resonates with my fan base.

Your career started to take off when you were 19 - the age Justin Bieber was when his personal life seemed to become troubled. It's often said he's just doing things any normal teenager would do - do you believe that?

I really respect Justin's music and artistry. I'm not here to judge anyone.

What do you think your future holds?

Something exciting. I have so many creative ideas and dreams that I want to accomplish and I'm just getting started. I'm currently in the creative process of making a new music video for my next single and getting my EP ready for release.
