Swedish House Mafia on course for their first and last No.1 single

Swedish House Mafia are set to reach the top of the UK singles chart this Sunday (October 14) with their final single ‘Don’t You Worry Child’, as they managed to score the midweek No.1 today.

The electro-house DJ trio are fighting off major competition from Adele’s latest single ‘Skyfall’, the theme song for the new James Bond movie of the same name, which entered the Top 40 at No.2 this afternoon.

‘Don’t You Worry Child’ will be the first and final number one single for Swedish House Mafia, who announced in June that they are to split after their world tour, wrapping up in Los Angeles in March.

Despite Adele's huge chart success with the singles from her record breaking album ‘21’, ‘Skyfall’ is currently approximately 22,000 copies behind ‘Don’t You Worry Child’. However, it will certainly reach a new peak after debuting at No.4 last week.

Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’, which was last week's No.1, PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ and One Direction’s ‘Live While We’re Young’ are currently on track to chart at No.3, 4 and No.7 respectively.

Elsewhere in the single's chart, Ellie Goulding’s latest offering 'Anything Could Happen' has dropped 1 position to No.6, Maroon 5's 'One More Night' has debuted at 26, and Taylor Swift's 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' has climbed a place to No.9.
