Earlier today (January 16), UK based group The Vamps took to their official Twitter page to ask fans to vote for them in a contest to find the best cover version of 'Story Of My Life' by One Direction. 

At the time of the tweet, which read "Ahhh we are second! Please keep voting for us!", the lads were in second place, but they have now shot into the lead with 23.84% of the vote (pictured left). Singer Filipa is in second place 17.25% of the vote and Ciuffi Rossi is currently at No.3 with 10.75%. 

Irish twins Jedward, meanwhile, are in the heat although they only have 2.05%. Voting for the contest is still open and you can chose your favourite cover version here. 

Back in September, The Vamps explained that One Direction inspire them with their work ethic and talent, and told ITN: "I mean, we covered a lot of their stuff early on, like a year ago, and we were lucky to get hits from their covers. So I mean we've kind of built our fans through that, so it's great for us."

The video of the heartthrobs covering the single now has over 1.1 million hits on YouTube.
