The Vamps have given fans an update on the chart progress of their new single - and they say it is "so close" to being No.1 in the UK.

The rising British group released their third single 'Last Night' on Monday (April 7) and it appears to be performing well in the chart.

The band tweeted today (April 8): "We are only 12,000 singles behind number one and that's so close, wow."

The official position of the single will be revealed in the Official Charts Company's midweek update on Wednesday (April 9) before its final results are announced on Sunday (April 13).

At the time of writing, the single is No.3 on the UK iTunes chart behind Sigma's 'Nobody to Love' and Aloe Blacc's 'The Man'.

The Vamps are still chasing a UK No.1 after landing at No.2 with debut track 'Can We Dance' and No.3 with 'Wild Heart'.

The group meanwhile will unleash their first album 'Meet The Vamps' on Monday (April 14).
