The Vamps on success: 'We have an advantage'

Rising stars The Vamps recently released their debut album and have been enjoying huge success over the past 12 months, and member Tristan Evans has admitted that they feel as though they have an advantage.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz about the growing popularity of guitar music in the UK Top 40 charts lately, he explained that it helps their band to become more widely exposed and appreciated:

"The more similar bands in the charts, the easier to make the statement that this is the new music. It will be to our advantage that there are more bands in the charts. It's setting 'this is what's in now' and this is what people like so we're all different. We're more kind of indie pop."

The lads' debut record, 'Meet The Vamps', charted at No.2 on Sunday night (April 20) and Evans told Chronicle Live last week that they're glad to be embarking on their career at the same time as contemporaries, 5 Seconds Of Summer:

"We’ve all been playing instruments for over ten years so it was only natural for us to continue that into The Vamps. Perhaps, among boy bands, that makes us stand out. Us, 5 Seconds Of Summer and The 1975 are really bringing guitar music back into the charts."
