The Vamps' James McVey has admitted that he was "too shy" to pursue a girl in the gym.

The guitarist posted on Twitter today (June 27) that he was working out when a female caught his eye.

However, he said that he ended up leaving because he was too scared to speak to her.

McVey said: "There's a girl right in front of me training abs in the gym...She's killing me right now. AHHHH.

"I am rubbish with girls. #ranawaybecauseiwastooshy."

The Vamps recently announced plans to tour the UK and Ireland's arenas in spring next year.

They will play cities such as London, Dublin and Glasgow, with specific dates still to be announced.
