The Vamps' James reveals acne struggle: 'These scars constitute my very being'

Guitarist James McVey, of The Vamps fame, has made a very honest and personal post on photo sharing app Instagram in which he opens up about embracing your imperfections.

In the post, he uploaded a picture of himself that was taken close up to his face and he explains that he suffers from acne, but doesn't want to hide it and feels he shouldn't be embarrassed about it. He accompanied the snapshot (which can be seen above left) with the following caption:

"Never be afraid to accept and embrace imperfections; the road to absolute acceptance is stitched with the lessons and set backs facing you ahead. Nothing or nobody can lead you to this enlightenment- it is your task, and yours alone. We all have scars, those dark memories that torment us, yet it's not about forgetting them; it's about recognising that these scars are what constitute your very being, what makes you who you are today."

McVey concluded: "Never forget, simply acknowledge that others are experiencing this transition with you, and it's down to you to help those who are struggling. My name is James and I have acne. What's your name?"

The band, meanwhile, just kicked off their UK headlining tour and will perform live tomorrow night (September 25) in Newcastle at the City Hall. Their first date was earlier this week in Sheffield and they had a great time, tweeting: "That was such a fun show last night Sheffield! Thanks for coming."
